General Meeting Speaker
Barbara Semple, Chatham resident, spoke with the membership attending on Zoom. She has conducted research on her family of seafarers and gave us a fascinating presentation about the voyages of her great aunt, Frances Carleton Brastow Amesbury. This intrepid woman accompanied her sea captain husband on voyages to China and Far East during the late 1800's and the first few years of the 1900's. It was impressive to see photos of the captain's quarters and ponder how she managed on the long, dangerous voyages.
The Women's Club Outreach continued to organize support of the club's ten year plus tradition of contributing to fulfill the needs of children participating in the programs sponsored by the Homeless Prevention Council. WCC members contributed generously to "adopt" nine children and provide them with five to six wish list items, supply 24 gift cards and financially support the Council programs with $3,210.
Members Mickey Bullock and Elsie Trainor volunteered to honor
Veterans and Military families by participating in the 2nd Chef Drive-Thru and handing out gift bags on November 10.
